About the Hanover Area School District
Hanover Area organizes its schools by grade band rather than neighborhood, so every student in the district moves through the same buildings: Lyndwood Elementary (pre-kindergarten and kindergarten), Hanover Green Elementary (grades 1 and 2), Lee Park Elementary (grades 3 and 4), Hanover Area Memorial Elementary (grades 5 and 6) and Hanover Area Junior/Senior High School (grades 7 to 12) on the Sans Souci Parkway. District offices are at 1600 Sans Souci Parkway, Hanover Township, PA 18706; the website is hanoverarea.org.
Where you can live
- Hanover Township: the largest municipality in the district, with the neighborhoods of Lee Park, Hanover Green, Lyndwood, Preston and Breslau, the Sans Souci Parkway commercial strip and quick access to Interstate 81 and Route 29.
- Ashley: a small borough at the foot of the mountain, home of the historic Huber Breaker site.
- Sugar Notch and Warrior Run: two of the county’s smallest boroughs, tucked between Hanover Township and Mountain Top along Route 309.
One common mix-up: Nanticoke’s Hanover Section is in the Greater Nanticoke Area School District, not Hanover Area, and Wilkes-Barre addresses in South Wilkes-Barre are in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.
