About the Greater Nanticoke Area School District
All four schools share a campus along Kosciuszko Street in Nanticoke: the Kennedy Early Childhood Center (pre-kindergarten to grade 2), the GNA Elementary Center (grades 3 to 5), the Greater Nanticoke Area Educational Center (grades 6 to 8) and Greater Nanticoke Area Senior High School (grades 9 to 12). Students can also attend the Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical Center, and Luzerne County Community College’s main campus is inside the district. District offices are at 427 Kosciuszko Street, Nanticoke, PA 18634; the website is gnasd.com.
Where you can live
- Nanticoke: Honey Pot, Downtown and the Hanover Section, with pre-war singles and doubles and the county’s lowest median home values.
- Newport Township: Glen Lyon, Alden, Wanamie and Sheatown south of the city, with older homes and open land toward the mountain.
- Plymouth Township: West Nanticoke and the hillsides across the Susquehanna, along Route 11.
- Conyngham Township: the small river community of Mocanaqua and rural land downriver.
Plymouth Borough, despite the similar name, is in the Wyoming Valley West School District, and Hanover Township is in the Hanover Area School District.
