About the Dallas School District
The district is one of the smaller ones in Luzerne County by area, about 46 square miles, but it is among the most sought-after by families moving to the Wyoming Valley. Students move through Wycallis Primary Center (kindergarten to grade 2), Dallas Intermediate School (grades 3 to 5), Dallas Middle School (grades 6 to 8) and Dallas Senior High School (grades 9 to 12), all within walking distance of one another on a campus of more than 100 acres. The district also runs its own cyber school option and offers full-day kindergarten. Older students can attend the West Side Career and Technology Center. District offices are at 2000 Conyngham Avenue, Dallas, PA 18612; the website is dallassd.com.
Where you can live
- Dallas Borough: the walkable center of the Back Mountain, next to Misericordia University.
- Dallas Township: subdivisions, farmhouses and wooded lots across 19 square miles north and west of the borough.
- Kingston Township: Shavertown and Trucksville along Route 309, the closest part of the district to Wilkes-Barre, with Frances Slocum State Park.
- Franklin Township: rural, hilly farmland and forest north of Dallas, with Lake Louise and Cummings Pond.
Neighboring Harveys Lake, Lehman and Jackson Townships are in the Lake-Lehman School District, and the boroughs down the mountain in Kingston and Forty Fort are in the Wyoming Valley West School District, so a Back Mountain address does not automatically mean Dallas schools. Ask us to confirm the district on any home you are considering.
