Joseph O’Connor has been a passionate realtor since 1973, accumulating an impressive 50 years of experience. His motivation to enter the field stems from his love for the competitiveness of the real estate market and the freedom of working in the field as opposed to a cubicle.
Initially specializing in industrial real estate, Joseph took courses to become a member of the Society of Industrial Realtors (SIR). As his career evolved, he shifted his focus to residential homes, constantly updating his knowledge on new trends and financing to better serve his clients. His commitment to staying current with the market and buyers’ desires is evident through his voracious reading of industry articles, newspapers, and other relevant sources.

Joseph’s expertise and dedication have led to numerous awards and recognitions. He quickly became a Broker within just three years, serving on and chairing committees, and holding the position of President of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Board of Realtors from 1984 to 1985. In 2005, he was named “Realtor of the Year” and continued to serve as a valuable resource by teaching new Realtor Orientation for many years. A trailblazer in the industry, Joseph became a Charter Member of the National Marketing Institute for NAR as a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and was one of the first Pennsylvania Realtors Institute (GRI) in Luzerne County.

In January 2000, Joseph founded O’Connor Real Estate, and he is now excited to transition his legacy to the capable hands of Robert Button at Button Real Estate. As he passes the torch, Joseph’s wealth of experience, knowledge, and dedication to the industry will undoubtedly continue to benefit his clients and the real estate community.
